Cat. #001644112: GINA LOLLOBRIGIDA

Uncommonly early 4 x 5.75-inch double-weight semi-glossy deckle-edge postcard portrait, boldly signed in black fountain pen in the 1950s. In very fine condition. Known as "La Lollo," the late Gina Lollobrigida was the first sex symbol to emerge from post-World War Two Europe at a time when Italians were tossing over Neorealism in favor of unadulterated Hollywood glamour. The gorgeous artist's model, who was typically cast as smoldering seductresses, was memorable in Fanfan theTulip (1952) Beauties of the Night (1952), Beat the Devil (1953) with Humphrey Bogart, Carol Reed's Trapeze (1956), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1956), Solomon and Sheba (1959), Come September (1961), and Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell (1968) before Sophia Loren swept into town and stole her thunder. Since 1999, Lollobrigida has been active in Italian politics.
